Genesis - Chapter 4        Verses 1-2 skips ahead a bit and introduces Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve. Incidentally, Cain's name is really a pun, but it doesn't translate well when Eve says it in  verse 1.  A loose translation of what she said would be something "I got my son, GOT from GOD". We're not told too much information on Cain and Abel, but we're told that one tills the ground and one takes care of the sheep (and goats too! ).      Verses 3-5 deal with Cain and Abel's offering to GOD. The only thing we're really told about  the offering other than what it was is that GOD respected Abel's offering but not Cain's.  We're not really told why this is, but there are clues in the Bible that give us a good idea of why  that is.  For example, Hebrews 11:4 tells us "By faith, Abel brough GOD a better offering than Cain  did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when GOD spoke well...

     Verse 1 starts right off with GOD showing that he has authority over even Satan himself by stating that HE made Satan. Interestingly enough, verse 2 shows that Satan has very little  power of us. His first act is to try and get Eve to do what he wants. Notice that he can make her do it, he has to trick her into doing what he wants her to do. In effect showing that he's weaker than he appears to be.      Notice that he starts off with an inexact quote from GOD and tries to get the woman to buy it. The woman herself responds with her own inexact quote which only serves to weaken her argument. Consider when Satan faced Christ in the desert that Christ responded to him with exact scripture quotes only.   Since the woman knew what she was saying was , in part false, this caused her to loose her focus. She focused on Satan and his words, rather than GOD and his word.  This shows us that we  WILL be tempted, and...
